Our Approach

Coaching. By Therapists.

Where traditional coaching focusses on the surface level short term performance gains, our approach accompanies our coachees deeper into themselves so they can emerge with new ways of making sense of themselves, their work and the world.

Watch this short video to understand how we work in more detail.

In our attempts to adapt, we typically take one of two approaches:

  1. Traditional coaching: which has a high focus on getting work done, but often neglects much meaningful individual growth.

  2. Therapy: which beautifully emphasises depth and meaningful personal change, but sometimes at the expense of getting much done.

DEVELOPMENTAL COACHING

Our approach differs in that it achieves both. We call this Developmental Coaching. In this approach, an individual’s practical problems and limitations offer the momentum we need to evolve to a new, more sophisticated level of understanding of the world, our work and ourselves.

Our approach doesn’t binarily choose between Growth or Pragmatism but rather Growth for Pragmatism.

We overcome our professional hurdles, by using them as a window into our development. And we emerge with new, more complex abilities to rise to our professional challenges as a result.

WHO DO I NEED TO BECOME?

In biology, adaptation isn’t a thing that an organism does, it’s a process of it actually becoming something new. An upgrade. A levelling up. A metamorphosis.

Therefore, where the old question was: what do I need to do move forward?

The new question is: who do I need to become, to move forward?

COACHING BY THERAPISTS

How we are is as important to success as what we do.

Our coaches are trained in psychotherapy;

  • We focus only on the person in front of us and the sessions are a confidential space

  • We work with the issues and tasks, AS WELL as how the person is to help the person understand themselves better.

  • We approach the person as a whole, and clients are free to bring whatever they feel they need to.

  • We don't have a structured agenda. We bring coaching and therapeutic techniques and methods, which we use in response what to is important to clients in real time.

  • The training and high ethical standards allow us to work at whatever depth the client wants to.

  • We have coached clients through situations such as;

    Developing leadership styles

    Encouraging engagement with strategies

    Influencing strategic decision makers

    Promotion to leadership roles

    Career management

    Dealing with conflict in the workplace

    Work life balance

    Being heard in meetings

    Engaging others in presentations
